Crossfire 92 Schmetzer's Isabel Farrell named to ODP Regional Squad
July 23, 2007
Congratulations to Isabel Farrell of Crossfire 92 Schmetzer on being selected earlier this month to the Region IV Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional Girls 94 U13 team player pool! This means that Isabel is not only one of the BEST players from Washington state, but part of a select group of players that will represent the 13 western states from Region IV, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The map below highlights the Region IV portion of the United States.
With this incredible accomplishment, Isabel now has the opportunity to take her game to the next level.
Isabel is one of only two Washington State U13 players who made the 38-player pool for the ODP 94 girls at the Region IV camp held last June in Moscow, Idaho. Top premier soccer players from around Washington, including many from Crossfire Premier, were invited to represent their state at the ODP regional camp, while only a few like Isabel were then invited to remain through July 6th for additional training as part of the Region IV player pool. By itself a huge honor and achievement, Isabel and a handful of other Crossfire Premier players at different ages have earned this recognition for their outstanding soccer talent and skill. You can see the entire ODP girls Region IV pool squads here.
Congratulations also to Shivan McDonald and Kelly Morro from Crossfire 92 Schmetzer, for being named to the Washington State ODP pool for Girls 93.
The purpose of the ODP camp is to provide higher level training for all pool participants and prepare pool players to better compete as a team at the US Youth Soccer Interregional Tournaments. From this pool will be selected the player rosters for the next Regional travel team events.
The Olympic Development Program was formed to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected, licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.
