Congratulations to the girls of Crossfire Schmetzer for their outstanding performance at the ECNL National Event at San Antonio. The team faced the always formidable D’Feeters SC in their opener and rose to the occasion, playing “with passion and energy” which produced several quality shots on goal. Saturday’s game against Lonestar SC featured strong, talented players, crazy wind and ominous clouds, but the team played determined ball. Outstanding goals were scored by Dani, Kiana, Becca from Elise, Brie from Kiana, and Elise. Sunday’s early game against Charlotte SA was a good contest, showing "great work rate and desire". The winning goal was a “great combination with a great finish”, Elise from Brie. The girls are looking forward to their next ECNL matches in California and New Jersey.

Crossfire Schmetzer will not be retuning to Virginia Beach to defend their title as US Club National Cup Champions after losing 1-2 to FC Portland Marine in the finals of the Region G "Super Group" tournament held at Sixty Acres. The girls played tough, passing and executing very well. But for Crossfire, it was one of those games where, despite a barrage of shots, the team had difficulting finding the back of the net. After 0-0 at the half, Portland went on to score, with Crossfire countering with a determined goal by Bailey McMullen off a beautiful corner kick by Tess Edenholm. With less than two minutes left in regulation time, Portland knocked in the game winner; earning a berth in the National Cup tournament. Best wishes to Marine in Virginia against other regional winners including Sereno SC South 95 White (AZ), VSA Heat Blue 94/95 (VA), FC Delco Lightning (PA), and Sparta United (Ut). Hopefully the Northwest U-15 Girls regional winners will earn a three-peat© as winners of the National Cup tournament.
U.S. Club tournament organizers once again put together a very well-run and well-organized tournament, with over 200 teams participated in the Northwest regional playoffs and over 1,100 teams competing in eight regionals held across the country from Memorial Day weekend through the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Hats off to the Crossfire grounds crew who did an outstanding job getting the fields in playable condition after the wettest spring in many years.

2009-2010 State Championship Cup Finalists
Reign Takes Title 2-1 in PKs
(April 25, 2010) After 90 minutes of regulation time and a full 30 minutes of overtime, Crossfire and Reign U15 girls were tied at 1-1 and forced to decide the 2009-2010 Washington state championships from the penalty mark. Reign emerged with their first state title, and Crossfire took 2nd in a hard-fought match at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. Crossfire faced Reign in bracket play earlier in the tournament, with both teams remaining scoreless. In both matches, Crossfire dominated in shots on goal, but was unable to translate that dominance to where it mattered on the scoreboard. Though disappointed, Crossfire girls enjoyed a stellar year, including a US Club national championship, and look forward to an improved outcome in 2010-2011. 2009 US Club NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
Perfect End to Near Perfect Summer Season
(August 18, 2009) Crossfire G94A girls cinched the US Club National Cup championship title July 31 - August 3 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where they competed against Super Group champions from five other US Club regions nationwide. Their record was 3-1-0 for the extended weekend.
The team’s single defeat during the National Cup (and for the entire summer season) came at the feet of the Chicago Fire Juniors Red team during the opening day of GU14 Super Group division play. Crossfire rebounded to win 3-2 against New Jersey’s Arsenal Power and 3-0 versus Maryland’s Freestate Elite to make it to the championship match, where Crossfire again faced Chicago Fire, but worked hard to earn a more favorable outcome. Their dramatic victory came in PKs after a 0-0 tie at the end of 70 minutes of regulation play and two 10-minute overtime periods. Click here for official results.
Crossfire G94A wraps up its six-tournament summer season with an impressive five tournament championships, an overall 23-1-4 record, and the Club’s second-ever national title.
Lake Oswego Nike Cup Champions!
Summer winning streak continues
(July 27, 2009) Crossfire 94A kept its undefeated summer streak in tact after earning its fourth tournament championship at the Lake Oswego Nike Cup this weekend. After tying all four games at their season opener, the Nike Man U Cup in May, the girls have since gone 19-0-0 in tournament play. They wrap up their summer season as they travel to Virginia Beach for the US Club National Cup next weekend, where they expect to put their summer training in the northwest to the test against teams from across the country.
At the Lake Oswego Nike Cup, the girls won the three matches in their U15 Girls Gold flight, including a game versus Oregon’s FC Willamette Possession, a team they again faced in the championship match. The finals, played as a heatwave hit the Portland metro area, was scoreless at the end of regulation, went into overtime, and was ultimately decided in PKs. Nike Crossfire Challenge GU15 Gold Champions!
Undefeated!

(July 14, 2009) Crossfire G94A claims tournament win number three this season at the club’s home event, the 2009 Nike Crossfire Challenge, over the weekend. The Crossfire players had to dig deep to make it through the semifinal game versus GRFC ’94 Blue when they gave up three goals after their keeper was injured midway through the first half. Crossfire defense had only given up one goal in the last three tournaments combined until the match versus GRFC. The team pulled it out, however, ending the game at 3-3 after 70 minutes of regulation play, and earning the "W" in PKs. They then moved on to defeat Emerald City FC 94 Green 4-0 in the finals, winning their second consecutive Nike Crossfire Challenge championship title. Click here for official results.
US Club Cup Regional Champions!
Headed for US Club Nationals in Virginia

(July 8, 2009) The Crossfire G94A team went undefeated to walk away with top honors in the GU14 Super Group in the US Club Cup Regional Championships this Independence Day weekend in Burlington, Washington. The team moves on to represent Region G in the US Club National Cup Finals July 31 - August 3 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The Crossfire girls won their three qualifying games, making Crossfire 94A the only team to earn a total possible 9 points in Group A, before facing Eastside Red, the only team to go undefeated and earn 9 points in Group B, in the finals. In the championship match, Crossfire went up on a PK by defender Kristin Standish after midfielder Danika Bethune was fouled in the box on a breakaway run inside the Eastside 18. The second goal, which sealed the victory, came late in the game with a smart finish by midfielder Sammy Lavitt off a cross sent through the legs of a defender from the left side by Rachel Shim. Of the four games played, Crossfire 94A scored twelve goals, while only letting in one by the Le Bois team from Idaho. Click here for official results.
Overall, Crossfire showed well at the tournament: the girls won at U11, U13, U14 and U16; while the boys won at U11, U13 and U16. The US Club Soccer National Cup debuted in the summer of 2002 and has now grown to include Boys & Girls U11-U17 age groups in Super Group and Premier divisions. The National Cup begins with eight regionals held across the country from Memorial Day weekend through the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Rainier Challenge GU15 Champions!
GP - 5; GF - 11; GA - 0

(June 15, 2009) Crossfire G94A emerged as GU15 champions at the Rainier Challenge in Puyallup, Washington, undefeated after 3 days and 5 matches this weekend.
With great defense and goals delivered from across the pitch, the Crossfire girls sailed through the GU15 Samba qualifying play in Flight A with three wins and 29 points Friday and Saturday to cinch a spot in the semifinals on Sunday. The hard-fought semifinal match versus Snohomish United’s Chika Lobos was sealed in the final minutes of the second 5-minute overtime on a far post rocket shot by Crossfire’s Rachel Shim. The shot created a deep pocket in the back of the net, where it got caught and lingered dramatically for several seconds before wending free and falling to the ground. Crossfire celebrated the goal and the 1-0 win, which paved the way for the finals match versus tournament home team Washington Premier Black.
Crossfire’s first goal came early in the finals when Darby Mason dribbled down the field and confidently put the team on the scoreboard. Rachel Shim stretched the lead to two, scoring a header goal on a corner kick from Tess Edenholm in the second half. Washington Premier fell 2-0 to Crossfire G94A, Rainier Challenge champs, ending this kickoff weekend of the summer tournament season.
Crossfire G94A Competes at Nike Man U Cup US Finals
Strong Debut at U15 - Undefeated
(May 26, 2009) May tryouts brought a new coaching duo and seven new players to Crossfire G94A, and two short weeks later, the new team made its U15 debut at the Nike Manchester United Premier Cup US Finals at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, Memorial Day weekend, May 21-25. The tournament each year is open to 20 top-ranked girls’ teams from across the US. Crossfire girls placed third in their bracket by tying each of the four teams they faced, including three teams from California -- Slammers FC, Legends FC and San Juan Spirit -- as well as Bethesda SC Freedom. They earned four points overall, and were edged out by Legends FC, who earned five points and a berth in the quarterfinals.
After bracket play, the girls enjoyed two friendly matches: the first against the Mustangs from Danville, California, and the second against FC Delco from eastern Pennsylvania. Both friendlies ended in ties.
Of the six total games, Crossfire’s defense earned four shutouts and allowed only two goals. Coach Andy Schmetzer and Assistant Coach Pat Williams were pleased with the result. "Afterall," as several of the girls pointed out, "we went undefeated!"
It was, said Andy, "a good weekend against some of the best competition in the country." He saw the tournament as an opportunity to get to know the team better and to identify the challenges for the new year. "I felt... the girls really bonded and played together as a unit.... I think the girls showed that we have an extremely strong foundation." The strong debut at U15 bodes well for the Crossfire team, which will step up to play in the the Women’s Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) this year.
