Oct 5, 2008, Crossfire v FC Crush at Marymoor (Far West Regional League): After 70 minutes of play, the score was 0-0, but that tells only half the story of the clash between these two great teams in the final Washington game of the Far West Regional League. Crush came out hard, but all thirteen Crossfire players, who were uninjured and able to play, stepped up to take on their rival. The stats tell the other half of the story, of Crossfire’s command of the pitch, including Crossfire’s 14 shots on frame, three of which slammed into the crossbar, versus 10 shots for Crush. This was a great, fast-paced game, and, as usual with these two teams, was fun for both players and spectators.
Oct 4, 2008, Crossfire v WPFC Black at WPFC Complex (PDL): After demonstrating its ferocity by blowing over a goalpost during warm-ups, gusty wind took to the field as a 12th man for Washington Premier in the first half of the game and Crossfire during the second. Crossfire, with the wind and rain against them, kept Washington Premier scoreless in the first 35 minutes. They then went on to score early in the second half, with a long cross by defender Amy "AJ" Johnson, and a far post finish by Bailey "Bay" McMullen. Crossfire, however, couldn’t hold onto the "W," and let in the tying goal with seven minutes left in the game. Chalk up an uncharacteristic "T" number four for Crossfire in the PDL Fall League.
Sep 27, 2008, Crossfire v Harbor FC at Marymoor (PDL): Clear, crisp fall weather made a near-perfect backdrop for this Saturday afternoon game as Harbor FC came out on fire to dominate the first half. The Crossfire defense was relieved as the half wound down to a 0-0 tie. A hard shot from about the 18 by Crossfire midfielder Marissa "Whoop Whoop" Katagiri found the back of the net early in the second half, energizing her teammates who went on to create a myriad of opportunities and effectively shut down the Harbor offense in this 1:0 victory for our girls in black.
