Spring Training Begins With Some New Faces
March 27, 2008

Spring training starts on Monday with a new coach and a few new players.  Tim Reynolds will coach the Crossfire Premier GU13 White team this year.  Kristina and Haili are on another Crossfire Premier team now.  Instead, we will be joined by Hannah Van Hoff and Jordan Nelson (and possibly more).  Practices start Monday at 4PM at Marymoor Park.  See you there.

I will be updating the web site soon with roster and coaching changes.  I will also be setting up a calendar that can be shared by all of us.

Crossfire Shull Season Ends Despite Impressive Performance
January 19, 2008

The 2007/2008 season came to an end today with a heartbreaking loss to the Shoreline Sapphires. Crossfire Shull didn’t allow any chances in the first half of play while managing a couple of opportunities of their own. In the second half, Shoreline capitalized after an unfortunate bounce and took the lead 1-0. With the entire Crossfire team pressing forward for the equalizer, Shoreline was able to find the net in the dying seconds for a 2-0 victory.

Despite the loss, this was likely the best team effort of the year. The girls have come a long way since March and Coach Shull expects to continue the improvement into next season with the same group of girls.

Well done girls and thank you for a very entertaining season!

Crossfire Shull Moves Into Commissioners' Cup Elimination Round
January 13, 2008

After defeating the Anacortes Explosion Sunday afternoon, Crossfire Shull will be moving into the Commissioners’ Cup elimination round.  The final score was 1-0, but they had many chances to score and dominated the game from start to finish.  Again, Caroline was the lone goal scorer.

Crossfire Shull finished in a first place tie with Camas/Washougal Crush in the "E" division.  It is yet to be determined which team will advance as the higher seed.

Kiasa has added pictures from the game to her Shutterfly site.  Use the ’Photo Albums’ link on the left to view them.  You’ll need to use the usual password (in lower case).  Thanks Kiasa!

Great game girls and GO CROSSFIRE!

Still Undefeated in the Commissioners' Cup
January 12, 2008

Crossfire Shull continued their quest for the Commissioners' Cup today with an exciting game against Camas/Washougal Crush.  The Crush opened the scoring near the end of the first half and took a 1-0 lead into the break.  Caroline Wilkins tied the game in the second half with a great shot on a breakaway.  Although there were several scoring chances after that, neither team was able to find the back of the net and the game ended in a tie.

Crossfire Shull now heads to Whidbey Island where they finish the preliminary round with a match against the Anacortes Explosion.

Moving Up In The Standings
October 20, 2007

Crossfire ’95 Shull jumped up 2 spots in the standings with a 4-1 victory over Issaquah Arsenal. Before last week’s victory over Renton , the girls were sitting in last place with just one tie on the season.  That victory moved them into 6th place and today’s victory moved them up to 4th.

After giving up the first goal, Crossfire rebounded with 2 goals before half time.  Leia picked up the first goal with a solid shot that the Issaquah goalie was unable to handle.  A few minutes later Rachel blasted another one in to take the lead.

Caroline scored in the second half after taking a break away pass that was just on side.  Issaquah’s goalie came way out of the goal to challenge, but Caroline was alert and drove the ball past her from a long way out.  Haili finished the scoring after she retrieved a rebound from her own corner kick.  She curled the ball over everyone’s head and it bounced off the far post and into the net.

Big Win For Crossfire Shull Over Greater Renton Patriots Red
October 13, 2007

It was a gorgeous day for a first time win! The first half of the game the girls played agressively, and semed to be evenly matched against the Greater Renton Patriots. The team was focused on passing to the outside and down the line. Many balls were sent through the middle to players. Lots of passing really made the difference. Many shots were taken on goal. With only seconds to go Haili Adams passed the ball into the other teams box and Maddy was there to kick it in.

In the second half Kristina Engelstone stepped in as goalie, doing a wonderful job of recovering the ball and kicking it down the field. There was even a time when the box was crowded with players scrambling madly to either kick it out of the box or into the goal, but Kristina stopped everything when she grabbed a hold of the ball. A second opportunity to score was narrowly missed during a PK. The ball went just left of the post. The team dominated the second half with agressive playing and by being first to the ball. Lots of hustle to be seen.
