On behalf of the Crossfire Board and Coaching Staff we would like to congratulation the following young men on making the inaugural Crossfire US Soccer Academy U18 and U16 teams. This promises to be one of the most exciting soccer years in our club’s history. Many of these players were members of the teams that helped build the reputation of our club and provided us with the opportunity to be a part of this amazing program, which has as its members the 64 top clubs in the country, and for that we are thankful. This new team represents another large step for Crossfire. We are proud of the work these players have done and grateful that they will be part of a program instrumental in their soccer development and important for the many young Crossfire boys and girls that will follow them for many years to come.
We have high expectations for this year. Our coaching staff believes that this team has the ability to be highly competitive in this league. Our goal is to win our division and be a contender for the national championship. We will be working hard to continually improve each player’s game and achieve these objectives. During the year we will have many exciting events along the way that should make it particularly memorable.
We want to thank every player that participated in the tryouts. The quality was extremely high and the final roster decisions proved to be highly challenging. During the year we will be allowed to have up to 10 “developmental players” on the team who can participate in up to 6 matches. We also have the ability to add up to 4 roster players during the year. Every player at tryouts has been recorded and will be automatically added to the pool eligible for “developmental players.” Their progress will be followed over the coming months.
We want to thank every one involved for their support of the program, in particular our fellow Washington clubs, who recommended players for the program and sent them to the tryouts.
