  • February 2001 – August 2003:  Professional Women’s Soccer Player; New York Power and Washington DC Freedom - WUSA (Women’s United Soccer Association) Three year player in the first ever national women‘s professional soccer league
  • February – September 2000:  Semi-professional Player and Administration Director for the Sacramento Storm of the W-League.
    In addition to playing center midfield, my duties included organizing camps, promoting ticket sales, and soliciting sponsorships.
  • 1997 – 1999:  U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team (automatic qualification for my “B” coaching license).
    The U.S. Women’s National Team pool consisted of 30 players. Participated in several tournaments with the U.S. National Team; Nike Victory Tour in various US Cities, Algarve Cup in Portugal, and multiple “Friendly’s” in China and Australia among others.
  • 1997 – 2002:  Organized and promoted my own personal soccer camps during the off season. Organized team trainings as well as individual training.

  • Parade Magazine All-America High School Player of the Year (#1 player and recruit in the country)
  • First ever Umbro Sonny Carter Scholarship recipient
  • Member of US National Team Pool from 1993 to 1999 (first appearance at 17 years old with the United States Women’s National Team. Played in several major tournaments with the U.S. team…U.S. Victory Tour, U.S. Cup, Algarve Cup and tournaments in China and Australia.
  • Three-time First Team NSCAA All-America
  • Two-time Herman Trophy finalist awarded to the top collegiate men’s and women’s soccer player in the country
  • Two-time Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year finalist
  • Three appearances in the NCAA final four National Championship tournament
  • Honda Sports Award nominee awarded to the years most outstanding soccer player
  • GTE Academic All-America Team member in 1999
  • Verizon Academic All-America Team member in 1998
  • Named as one of the top 50 student athletes of the West Coast Conference, in the past 50 years.
  • Member of the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team
  • All-Far West Region First Team selection for all four years
  • West Coast Conference Player of the Year 1996
  • West Coast Conference First Team selection for all four years
  • West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year
  • Three-time University of Portland’s MVP Award selected by Head Coach Clive Charles
  • Two-time Captain of the University of Portland Women’s Team selected by Head Coach Clive Charles
  • Inducted into University of Portland Athletic Hall of Fame in June of 2005 (first and currently the only women’s soccer player)
Volunteer Activities:
  • Delivered the keynote speech to honorees of the Character Counts! Program - American Youth Character Awards Ceremony.  
  • Volunteered at the Metropolitan Police Boys & Girls Club.  City Year Washington runs a carnival for all their youth volunteers.
  • Toured in-patient units at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) visiting and signing autographs for both patients and staff.
  • Numerous speaking engagements with kids during school assemblies about life as pro soccer player, commitment and dedication.
  • Participated in a charity bowling tournament with WUSA, NBA, WNBA and local celebrities to raise $5,000 for Children’s Hospital.
  • Visited Bells Mill Elementary for NEA Read Across America’s awareness event that celebrates reading on Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
  • Landscaped St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with City Year/Americorps and the community service group “Young Heroes" middle school students. 
Personal:
  • Married to Tote Yamada, former University of Portland player and assistant coach. Tote and Justi have two boys together, Caden 3 and Carson 3 months.
