
In preparation for the upcoming Spring Season League, Crossfire ’91 Crum traveled to Las Vegas, NV to compete in the 2008 Vegas Cup Tournament over the MLK -3 day weekend. It was a fast and furious weekend with the team playing games in crisp clear sun filled days and chilly nights under the lights. The team captured 5 wins in 3 days with 4 shutouts. They met teams from Utah and Colorado and faced a very strong Celtics Premier team again in the finals which resulted in a 0-0 tie. The match concluded in PK’s with Crossfire advancing as Champions. There were 13 goals scored with only 1 against and 4 shutouts over the 5 games.
FC Las Vegas (formerly Rebels Select Soccer Club) was host to the 2008 Vegas Cup, held at the Betty Wilson Soccer Complex. Bettye wilson fields were host to the 2007 USYSA Region IV Regional Championships. In their 5th year, the 2008 Vegas Cup the tournament brought teams together from Southern & Northern California, Nevada, New Jersey, Colorado, Illinois, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Arizona, & Texas.
The Crossfire Crum team found the tournament well run, providing 70 minute games for U15 and above, with all finals being full regulation time with proper time and space to warm-up on the field before the games. In addition, they were provided benches, water, gatorade, and ice if needed during their competitions. Exceptional refereeing was noted along with some good competition.
