The Crossfire Premier Soccer Club has teamed-up with PRO Sports Club to offer a soccer-specific training program designed to provide the club’s players with an opportunity to increase fitness, strength and assist with injury prevention.
The club has setup several different programs designed to benefit a variety of Crossfire teams and players, including weekly sessions for its Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) girls teams, its U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) boys teams and a special “Youth Night” for boys and girls up to U-13.
"At first I was skeptical that this type of training would provide a soccer player with any significant direct benefit,” said Bernie James, Crossfire’s boys coaching director. “But, after I saw it first-hand, I believe the methodology of the Pro Club training system really works. The players are undergoing soccer-specific training which will make them quicker, faster and stronger."
The aim of the PRO Sports Club training program is to provide more focused planning for soccer-specific conditioning and speed training, as well as encourage good nutrition and ideas on such things as warm ups, stretching and recovery.
“Increased speed and power is noticeable, even after a month of training,” said Crossfire girls coaching director Dick McCormick. “However, I think the most important aspect of this training program is injury prevention, which every player can continue to benefit from throughout the season and their entire soccer career.”
PRO Sports Club was founded in 1973 and originally served as the training home for the NBA’s Seattle Supersonics. The club has grown into one of the premier health clubs in the United State and has locations in Seattle, Bellevue and Redmond – which is located near Crossfire’s home fields located just off Willows Road.
