Watch Marco Monti on Fox Soccer Channel
Inter Academy Director

A professional contract with legendary Italian club Inter Milan is the coveted prize that awaits one young soccer player out of a pool of 7,000 at the conclusion of “Football’s Next Star,” the dramatic life-changing reality show that made its U.S. premiere on FOX Soccer Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET.

‘Football’s Next Star’ – consisting of seven, one-hour episodes -- puts 10 soccer prodigies through grueling physical and mental trials designed to measure speed, timing, agility and accuracy in a bid to win a spot with the reigning UEFA Champions League title-holder.

Jose Mourinho, who piloted Inter Milan to the last two of its 18 Serie A titles and last year’s Champions League crown, picks the winner. Among the current Inter Milan stars participating in the show are Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Cordoba, Diego Milito and Javier Zanetti.

‘”Football’s Next Star’ is compelling TV," said FOX Soccer Vice President, Acquisitions & Programming Joshua Glassel. "It does a wonderful job of providing a behind the scenes glimpse at the tension, frustration and joy experienced by the young soccer hopefuls training and competing for a job with one of the game’s iconic clubs."

Standing between the 10 finalists and that dream job is Marco Monti, the demanding and exacting technical director of the Inter Milan Academy, who is the final arbiter on who stays and who leaves the $15 million dollar villa on Lake Como where the boys, ages 16-18, reside and train during the show.

Jamie Redknapp, son of Tottenham Hotspur Manager Harry Redknapp, hosts “Football’s Next Star”. Jamie became a television personality in the UK after his playing career with Tottenham and Liverpool.

Already, plans are in the works for a second season in which one talented young player wins a contract with Barclays English Premier League club Manchester City. Some of the finalists will be determined during the club’s U.S. tour from July 16-23, when tryouts will be held in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

After each new episode airs Sunday in prime time, ‘Football’s Next Star’ re-airs the following Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.

Note: Marco Monti and other Inter coaches will spend two weeks this summer at the Crossfire Inter Residential Camp on Whidbey Island.
