1/15/05 Crossfire is 5th in the Nation
The United Soccer Leagues’ Super Y-League announced their inaugural 2005 post-season awards today.   There are three categories: ‘Top Clubs’ ranks each overall Super Y-League club, ‘Boys’ ranks just the boys teams of each club and ‘Girls’ ranks just the girls teams of each club.

Chicago Magic ranked #1 out of the 71 total clubs that met the minimum criteria with a 67.9 score.  The scores were tabulated using two criteria:  Winning percentage (70%), and Club Administration (30%).  The MetroStars took the top spot in the Boys category, out of 85 clubs that met the boys minimum criteria, with a 90.0 score while Match Fit Academy led the Girls side, out of 57 clubs, with an 82.0.

“The criteria used to rank these clubs is basic yet essential to the Super Y-League’s philosophy of providing a professionalized atmosphere for the top youth soccer players in North America,” commented SYL Director Matt Weibe.    “We wanted to salute those clubs who consistently succeed not only on the field but off the field as well.”

After the post season in November, the UMBRO Select Team will be chosen, containing the top 11 players in the Super Y-League North American Finals in each age group. The UMBRO Super Y-League Coach of the Year will also be selected.
