2007 WSYSA Challenge Cup
 
What is the Challenge Cup?
The Challenge Cup is WSYSA State Tournament for the Competitive level of competition. It is right below the US Youth Soccer Washington State Championships in skill level.
The preliminary games begin in January with the finals tentatively scheduled for February 17-18 and February 24-25. Please note that these schedules are subject to change. Preliminary games are held throughout Washington State, in both Eastern and Western Washington, so winter travel during this tournament is expected.
The Finals for the 2007 Challenge Cup will be hosted by WSYSA District 4 at the Silverdale Stadium.
Roster Sizes, Additions, Transfers, Releases and Cup Tied Information
U11 teams may carry up to a maximum of 14 players on their roster and will play 9 aside only while U12 and above may carry up to 18 and play 11 aside. Teams must have a minimum of 9 players registered to the team from the time of initial September 2006 fall team registration. The remaining 9 open positions may be filled by adding 9 new players or transferring 9 players or any combination thereof.  WSYSA will accept roster additions, releases and transfers up to a roster freeze date set annually by the Tournament Director. Any transfers submitted after the application deadline date will not be accepted for any player whose team is in the Challenge Cup Tournament. Teams wishing to make changes to their tournament roster after the November 15th entry deadline may do so up to the roster freeze date by contacting their association registrar. Who may enter?
This tournament is open to all competition levels, EXCEPT Premier League Division I and Division II teams. CYL and PDL teams and WSPL U13 teams MAY enter the Challenge Cup. All WSPL Division III teams will be seeded into the top division. Teams may participate in only one state tournament each seasonal year.

The Challenge Cup is open to Boys and Girls teams U-11 through U-19 that are comprised of properly registered youth players affiliated with WSYSA Member Associations. All teams and Member Associations must be in good standing with WSYSA to participate.
Entry fees and deadlines
The entry fee for the Challenge Cup will be $350.00 All applications must be received in the WSYSA Office by 5:00 p.m. November 15th, 2006. PLEASE NOTE: each association will have a much earlier entry deadline than the November 15th WSYSA deadline. Please contact your association registrar to determine what entry deadline applies for your team. Look for the application to be posted on the WSYSA web, www.wsysa.com ,by September 1, 2006
How does a team enter the Challenge Cups
The WSYSA State Tournament applications are now completed online via the WSYSA web page.
  1. To complete an application to participate in the Challenge Cup follow this simple process
  2. Click the link labeled ONLINE APPLICATION below
  3. Complete the application by following the posted instructions 
  4. The team representative will check a box at the bottom of the application to electronically sign (approve and submit) the application. 
  5.  Click the approve and save changes button when finished.
  6. Print a copy of the application for your records. The online application will automatically be submitted to your Association and WSYSA electronically.
  7. You will have the option of paying the entry fee online via a credit card. 
  8. If you did not elect to pay with a credit card online you will then submit your entry fee to your Association Registrar.
The Association Registrar will verify the team roster and submit your team’s application for participation in the Challenge Cup
