Paula knows the college financial aid system and works with parents to develop strategies to pay for their children’s college education. Paula Bishop, CPA is a Certified College Planning Specialist and partners with Crossfire in the area of financial aid for college. Paula is an expert in the details of the financial aid process, and meets with families to determine if they are eligible for financial aid, and estimates the amount of financial aid they most likely will receive from their student’s colleges of interest. Colleges that offer merit scholarships; both for academic and athletic achievements are also identified.
Paula works with parents to complete the necessary financial aid forms (FAFSA and CSS Profile form). Paula reviews the family’s finances and tax returns, and identifies areas that either help or detract from financial aid eligibility. If the family does not qualify for need based aid, alternatives solutions are addressed.
The primary goal is to match the college that your student will attend to your student’s academic goals and interests, as well as the family’s ability to finance their education without robbing retirement funds or resorting to excessive debt.
Paula holds an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, and a BS in Economics with a major in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Washington Society of CPAs, the American Society of Women Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
