Crossfire Duo Trials in Europe
A pair of Crossfire BU-18/19 DA players returned from Europe this week, after spending the previous ten days on trial with Norwegian first-division professional club Stabæk Fotball.
Crossfire Premier arranged the professional trial for Christian Soto-Rincon, a four-year starter in the Crossfire Academy program, and Wesley Frankl, a pacy forward/winger with an eye for goal, as part of a talent-development initiative from the club that’s designed to provide professional opportunities for outstanding Academy products. Besides trials at Stabæk, Crossfire players will also head to Belgium in coming months and for years down the road to trial with Club Brugge, one of the most decorated clubs in Belgian soccer.
Soto and Frankl are the first Crossfire players to take part in the program. The duo flew to Oslo, Norway, following their U-18/19 DA game vs. Vancouver Whitecaps, and besides enjoying the sights of Norway’s capital city, they trained daily with Stabæk, including playing in several practice games. Last weekend, they got a taste of what might be, taking in a first-team game at the Nadderud Stadion before flying back to Seattle on Friday, just in time to head to Los Angeles for a pair of Development Academy games versus FC Golden State and Arsenal FC.
