XF Girls 03 Take on the World in Madrid
As teams across the state are reaching the business end of the season, Crossfire’s 03 girls are ramping the competition up more than anyone, as they depart this week for Spain, where they’ll take part in the Madrid Football Cup (http://madridfootballcupgirls.com), playing against some of Europe’s biggest names in women’s soccer.
In the 2018 edition of the tournament, XF G02 finished in third place, defeating Manchester City (3-1) before falling to FC Barcelona (0-2) in the semifinals. The girls beat RKVV DIA from the Netherlands in the consolation final.
This year, our young XF ladies will take on Barça in the group stages, where they’re also paired with CD Leganés (Spain) and Stabæk Fotball (Norway). Among other luminaries, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City are also taking part in the 2019 tournament, which is held in Alcobendas, just outside the Madrid city center.
Prior to the competition, the team will take part in some training, a friendly match, a tour of Estadio Santiago Bernabéu and plenty of sightseeing around the Spanish capital. Official games being Friday, April 19, and all games will be streamed live on Crossfire’s MyCujoo channel at https://mycujoo.tv/video/crossfire-premier-sc. Match videos are saved online and available for later viewing as well.
